synthetic garden

unfired clay, air-dry clay, metal wire
2025

In my project Synthetic Garden, I explore how technology transforms our perception of nature. As a child, I shaped clay dug straight from the earth—an imperfect yet authentic experience. Today, I watch my daughter work with smooth, pre-packaged materials, symbols of a controlled world. In my works, I combine raw, unfired natural clay with lightweight air-drying clay, creating plants that blur the line between the organic and the artificial, disrupting their natural life cycle. This fusion reflects a reality in which the artificial has become an intrinsic part of us, prompting me to ask: what do we truly seek to protect in this increasingly fragile balance?
